Ministries at Lord of Life
Acolytes
Objective/purpose of
ministry:
Acolytes/crucifers—this is a
ministry to give the Jr.
High Youth (6th-8th grade)
an opportunity to serve in
worship Services and develop
leadership qualities while
gaining self confidence.
Altar Service
This is a group of church
members who serve by caring
for the special linens,
paraments, and utensils that
are necessary for performing
the Sacraments and the
liturgy. Members receive
training and serve at
monthly intervals, or at
holiday services as needed.

Banners and Paraments
As part of the Altar Guild,
interested individuals
create banners to enhance
the chancel according to the
season of the church year.
Boards and Committees

information on the Boards
and Committees at Lord of
Life.
Bulletin Board Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to
creatively design and
display announcements of
church events and ministry
activities. Primary focus is
given to the glass-enclosed
bulletin boards located
outside our sanctuary in the
main entryway. Contact: Lord
of Life church office.
Greeters Ministry
Greeters work in teams to
extend hospitality to guests
at Lord of Life worship
services and special events.
Someone may have just moved
into the area, decided to
change churches, or was
moved by some event in their
lives to try out a church to
see what this religion thing
is all about anyway! The
Board of Outreach encourages
all confirmed members to
join the Greeters Ministry.
It is a great way to meet
and learn who the members
are, in addition to being
that comforting first
impression for the visitor.
Your training will involve
spending a Sunday morning
co-greeting with a veteran
couple who can take you
through the things to
remember when greeting
visitors (sign in the guest
book, given them information
if asked, etc.) Contacts: Linda McVicker or
the Lord of Life Church
Office.
Homebound Visitation Ministry
In order to make sure that
all of our homebound members
are visited on a regular
basis and remain in
fellowship with the Lord and
our congregation, the Board
of Outreach has stared the
Homebound Visitation
Ministry. Caring
members of our congregation
who are willing to devote an
hour a week to this ministry
visit our homebound members
on a regular basis, bringing
them prayer, words of
encouragement, and serving
as the letter from Christ
that St. Paul wrote about in
2 Corinthians 3:3, “You show
that you are a letter from
Christ, the result of our
ministry, written not with
ink but with the Spirit of
the living God, not on
tablets of stone but on
tablets of human hearts.”
We ask that you please
consider and pray about this
opportunity to share some of
your time.

Kitchen Angels
Kitchen Angels are
volunteers who keep our main
kitchen clean, orderly and

L.C.E.F. (Lutheran Church
Extension Fund)
The LCEF provides investment
opportunities for our church
family. These investments
are used as the seed capital
for loans to churches for
capital improvement
programs. Our church is one
of the many beneficiaries of
that program. LCEF also
provides services to assist
churches with their building
programs. Contact: Pat Greer

are needed to process and
catalogue donations and
returned items, reshelve
books and videos, send

Pastor’s Prayer Partners
This group participates in a
silent yet powerful ministry
of intercessory prayer as a
special request comes to the
Pastor’s attention. These
individuals will lift
individuals up in their own
private prayers and
devotions.
Sound Technicians
The Sound Technicians
operate the sanctuary sound
system during worship
services and other special
events as the need arises.
Usher Ministry
Usher ministry is a special
ministry, essential to the
worship service, and it only
requires about an hour and a
half of your time for each
Sunday served.
Ushers work in teams to help
the Elders ensure that all
aspects of the worship
service are carried out in a
reverent, God-pleasing way. The ministry is
open to all confirmed
members of Lord of Life, and training is
provided by the Elders.
Ushers ensure the sanctuary
is ready for the worship
service, assist with making
coffee before the first
service, greet worshipers,
distribute bulletins,
distribute and collect
attendance books, direct
communicants and their
families to the altar during
Communion, assist with
offering plates, and pick up
items left in the sanctuary
after the service. A
shirt and tie for men and a
dress for women is
preferred, but not required.
However, jeans and shorts
are generally to casual for
the importance of this
ministry. Contact: Tom Womack
Worship Readers
Lay readers are responsible
for taking part in the
worship services by reading
the Scriptures for the day.
Training is provided to
demonstrate how the reading
of the Word is a dynamic
component of the liturgy. If
you are interested in
serving, contact: Pastor
John Lindner
